Roosevelt and Truman

Our 2005 Syrah Label dog is Roosevelt. But it is hard to talk about Roosevelt without mentioning his brother and fellow rescue dog, Truman.

Roosevelt is an 8 year old male bearded collie who was a neglected backyard dog that ended up abandoned at the Merced shelter. He was rescued and taken to the San Francisco SPCA.

When his forever family first met him, he was skinny and sickly. His hair was matted, and he had a big tumor on his head. He had almost no teeth from trying to chew threw the chain he had been tied to. Though he must have been feeling terrible, he never let it show. He was friendly and sweet.

Roosevelt is now a healthy guy with a great life and family who adores him. He lives in San Francisco, where he works as a demo dog for dog training classes. He has also earned his AKC, CGC, & TDI Certification. He also is on his way to becoming a therapy dog. In his spare time, he enjoys going to work with his guardian to the winery, where he gets to supervise winemaking.

Truman is a 7 year old male briard. He was rescued from a Los Angeles shelter to try out for the Shaggy Dog movie, along with 10 other shelter dogs. None of the shelter dogs ended up in the movie, however all had been placed except for Truman. Truman was handsome, but had scars on his eye and was terrified of everyone and everything. Truman lived with trainers and foster families, until he met his forever family in 2005. Truman's forever family worked hard with him to help him overcome his fears. Truman is now a confident and happy dog. He herds sheep, goes swimming, and competes in Agility. He has blue ribbons and lots of letters after his name. He is a therapy dog for autistic children. His forever family loves him very much, as does his canine brother Roosevelt.
